Pitching Match-up will be Hughes vs. Liriano
Game 5 was expected to be a big swing game as it obviously gave the winner a big advantage especially with another game for the staff stud. Of larger concern for BEL was their ability to hit Liriano who stymied them in Game 1.
After Tulo drove home the game's first run with a triple, BEL did the quick hook thing again but got burned bad this time as Casilla, Crockett and Giles gave up 3 runs in the 3rd for a 4-0 deficit. It got worse when Fiers who pitched great in Game 2 gave up two more runs in the 6th. The 6-0 lead looked insurmountable but then BEL began to rally.
Three singles a walk and a sac fly brought home three runs but the inability to get the runners left on base to score was frustrating. SBN brought in their best reliever, Sanchez, to stop the rally. A rally in the 9th could only push one run home and when Adams flew out with two on in the ninth, BEL went home frustrated with a 6-4 defeat.
Tulo had three hits and Sal Perez had two to lead SBN but BEL did see some life from Brock Holt and Encarnacion as each had two hits. BEL left seven runners on base but maybe the hitting would come around...
