The pitching match-ups for game 2 are: J. Fernandez vs. P. Hughes
Since Hughes won his 1st eleven decisions he has struggled. In the previous playoff appearances he mixed poor pitching with excellent pitching so you really have no idea what you're going to get. Well, this time, we got less than excellent. Down 1-0 in the 4th inning, Hughes gave up three straight singles and Giles came in to replace Hughes. Unfortunately, Giles allowed two doubles clearing the bases with Arenado getting the key hit leaving with SBN ahead 5-0.
BEL's bats could only manage 3 hits as Fernandez pitched a complete game shutout leaving BEL 2-0 in the series and having been out-scored 13-1 and out hit 22-10. Even more concerning was the lack of the BEL supposedly stellar bullpen not managing to stop SBN's batters.
The final score was 6-0 with Holiday's 3 hits and Rizzo's 4 hits leading the way.
So the series heads to SBN's home field and the match-up of each team's top starters. Pretty simple, BEL will have to win 4 out of 5 to take the crown.
